TxSP has always had a protocol for school closures for bad weather. Due to the recent ice-related closures in Texas, we decided it was time to review our protocol and communication resources for parents in Spanish and English. Hopefully, we have seen the last of the snow and ice, but since we have had snow in March before, we wanted to go ahead and post the updates for your District to review for the future.

At the end of the first semester, a district reached out to us requesting some changes to our PEIMS At-Risk Coding. For compliance, ensure that your District is practicing the 6- or 9-week PEIMS Oath and Affidavit Cycle Reports, following the protocol, and using the Annual Requests. We have included a new document, SCE At Risk Student Profile Reviews.

One of the benefits of subscribing to Texas School Procedures is that our staff members stay up to date on ongoing legal updates and research-based practices by attending legal conferences, TEA and other state webinars, federal webinars, hearings, and other pertinent trainings. We use that information to determine whether we need to update any of our protocols and documents, or add new filing cabinets or drawers to our website.
 
Part of the Texas School Procedures team spent one day this week at the 2026 Leadership and Law Conference at Dallas Baptist University, learning alongside incredible educational attorneys and leaders from across the metroplex. Sessions on Title IX, Special Education Parental Rights, AI, Freedom of Speech, and Advocacy made for an informative and thought-provoking day.
